NEWS - Team FJ determined to beat own record

ABU DHABI: This month’s Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge looks set to feature a cluster of private drivers looking to achieve a podium finish.
One such team is UAE-based expatriate duo, Dave Mabbs and co-driver Xavier Caminada. The pair, known as Team FJ, are eager to beat their fifth-place overall position in last year’s event and are busy gearing up to hit the terrain of Abu Dhabi’s Al Gharbia in a purpose-built Toyota FJ cruiser.

There is a line of three four-wheel drives with trailers attached parked outside a Subway in Dubai’s International City. On the trailers are dirt bikes and the owners have parked so they can keep an eye on them while they have a coffee and chat.

The UAE Charity Challenge team, who will be competing in the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge in March, have been nominated for the Princess Haya Award for Special Education in the Outstanding Campaign/Fundraising campaign category.
The nomination recognises the team’s ongoing fundraising for UAE charities as well as a malaria charity in Uganda.
